Accelerating the energy transition to a green economy is becoming increasingly important and a high priority for companies, since to the significant impact of energy as responsible for 60% of global greenhouse gas emissions. This requires identifying strategies that companies can adopt to become more sustainable:

1.- Invest in their own renewable energy generators:

Different companies have opted to move towards a sustainable production model, using solar energy through panels to produce their own power. Also, the use of biomass as renewable energy comes from organic matter.

Likewise, governmental financial support programs are beginning to exist in some countries so companies can invest in energy independence through sustainable energies.

2.-Acquiring contracts and green certifications for energy efficiency:

Currently, there are models such as the PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) which is a long-term power purchase agreement or contract between a renewable developer and a consumer, it could be understood as the sale of a project and its environmental attributes. This helps large energy-consuming companies to supply clean and traceable energy from a specific asset such as a wind farm or photovoltaic installation.

Others companies are committed to achieving certifications to optimize their energy efficiency. There are certifications such as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification that provides a framework for healthy, efficient, and cost-saving energy-efficient green buildings, HQE (High-Quality Environmental) certification that aims to pursue sustainable building performance, and ISO 50001 certification that is designed to manage energy use and consumption.

3.-Strengthening the integration of talent specialized in sustainability.

Talent is required to carry out this energy transition. Therefore, it is necessary and essential to have a team of professionals with the skills and knowledge to generate this change.

Nowadays, employment is increasing in the renewable energy sector, estimating that there will be 43 million jobs by 2030 and 122 million by 2050. Creating 700,000 jobs, and in countries such as Mexico, only 22% of the energy engineers needed by the country are currently being trained. This is why the occupation is growing and the necessity of recruiting specialized talent is becoming essential.

Part of the essential competencies that professionals must have is participative leadership, the ability to inspire, the search for consensus, sacrifice, and resilience, problem-solving with critical reasoning, initiative decision-making, working in multidisciplinary teams, and assuming different roles.
