As the renewables sector keeps growing, the challenge to find suitable talent for companies and positions in the industry has become more difficult. According to the International Renewable Energy Agency, employment in renewable energy worldwide was estimated at 11.5 million in 2019, up from 11 million in 2018, which poses the question if there is an appropriate structure when it comes to recruiting human capital as an alternative energy or resources company.
In addition to the technical aspects of a position like this, it is also important to take into account that with the COVID-19 pandemic and the changes it caused inside many industries, the importance of strong policy frameworks for renewables to achieve social, economic and environmental objectives has been reinforced in order to secure vital benefits for every professional.
The jobs in the renewables industry can be divided by sector, putting the hydropower and solar photovoltaics division as the biggest employers, mainly in countries such as China, Japan and India, followed by the increase in employment inside the European Union, raising numbers significantly, from 95 600 in 2018 to 127 300 jobs (EurObserv’ER, 2020).
